Wie gesagt, oft liegt so eine Verzögerung an externen Einbindungen wie GoogleAds, facebook, twitter oder auch Logos (z.B. von Bloggeramt).

Schuld daran ist z.B. der Abruf des Bloggeramt-Logos, aber auch eine nicht zu findende Grafik

Spätestens jetzt solltest du dich etwas mit css beschäftigen, es wird nicht bei den 2 Änderungswünschen bleiben

Den background und die Schriftart/-family der kompletten Site änderst du bei "body":

dann funkt bestimmt eine Funktion in der functions.php deines Themes dazwischen, welche nach is_home oder is_page abfragt. Die functions.php ist ziemlich lang, hab grad keine Zeit mich näher damit zu befassen. Evtl. erreichst du über den Theme-Autor schneller was.

Meist musst du die Background-Grafiken in der style.css ändern.
Wenn es aber keine Background-Grafik ist, dann evtl. direkt in der header.php deines Themes.
