W3 Total Cache - Anfänger sucht optimale Konfiguration

Hallo,
ich habe mir gestern (wieder einmal) W3 Total Cache installiert und bin nach folgendem Guide vorgegangen: http://zemalf.com/1443/w3-total-cache/ Dort habe ich jedoch Minify mal außen vorgelassen, da ich nebenbei auch WP-Minify verwende (nur für Javascript). Ansich funktioniert jetzt alles gefühlt und messbar schneller, nur habe ich 2 Fragen, auf die ich bisher keine Antwort finden konnte:

1) Empty All Caches - bezieht sich das nur auf meinen lokalen Cache oder zwingt es auch ein Neuladen der Inhalten bei fremden Webseitenbesuchern? Soweit ich das verstanden habe, passiert das automatisch (mittlerweile), wenn man beispielsweise einen neuen Artikel veröffentlicht hat.

2) Meine .htaccess enthält nebenbei auch eine Umformung meiner URL von meinedomain.at in http://www.meinedomain.at und eine GZIP Kompression (die habe ich in W3 dafür nicht ausgewählt). Kommt sich das irgendwie in die Quere oder passt das so? Im Browser Cache bei W3 ist außerdem der Filetype JPEG angegeben, was passiert nun mit .JPG Dateien, gilt das für beide Formen, weil ich kann dort selbst nichts hinzufügen, sonst will W3 das wieder überschreiben.
